Three sober, rave-loving friends who weren’t quite ready to hang up their party boots got together to create an event that they wanted to go to. 

They wanted to create something special to help address the lack of sober spaces, especially for the LGBTQ+ community, that everyone would enjoy. The sober events out there were great but not quite what they were looking for… and regular nights out were often fab too but the drunkenness, not so much.

It needed to be BOLD, FLAMBOYANT & GLITTERY. So they went BIG and their first event took place in October 2022. And The House of Happiness was born!

And that’s us! We’ve delivered 11 EPIC SOBER RAVES as well as supported the first ever Pride Swim, co-hosted the two years of official Pride in London sober events, played & cheered on runners at the London Marathon on one of the stages & recently had our first festival gig with As One in the Park.

During that time, The House of Happiness has also featured in The Guardian, Metro, TimeOut, Low No Drinker & PinkNews. As a team, we’ve made guest appearances on various podcasts and radio shows including BBC Radio London. We were also named as Cosmopolitan’s No.1 Sober Event in London! Everything that goes into putting The House of Happiness together is carefully considered. From the pre-meet to our social media messaging, The House’ Rules, photography & the way we interact with you all, whether online or at our events.

Yes it’s clubbing but it’s clubbing with a conscience. We love saying hi, having a chat and getting a dance in with everyone! Seeing the dance floor come alive with all that sober joy is what it’s all about.

Emma AKA DJ Barroness is our Resident DJ & Co-Founder. She decided to pursue her dream of DJing when she gave up drinking & she hasn’t looked back. Her sets are LEGENDARY & she knows how to work a crowd with killer vocal house club classics mixed in with newer sounds. Barroness puts a ton of passion & energy into curating her sets and works closely with our guest DJs too. She’s DJ’d at the London Marathon and various other events, including Pride Swim & recently Brighton Pride. You can check out her Soundcloud & also book her for private gigs HERE.

Jayney - don’t forget the ‘Y’ - is truly one of a kind! A crazy unmatched energy with the loveliest spark, both on & off the dancefloor. Behind the scenes, Jayney deals with a lot of the operations stuff (think finances, venue etc…) and it’s likely if you follow us on socials, she’s messaged you with a gentle, lively reminder about our upcoming events. Jayney hosts our pre-meet before each event too. She’s often wearing something that lights up, whether wings or a headpiece, & she loves to storm the podiums.

Neil can generally be relied on for the following…busting out a great outfit, a face full of glitter and a loud clacking fan. Which he is not afraid to use as he hits the dancefloor! Neil oversees the brand look, feel & messaging of The House of Happiness to make sure what we’re all about comes across. He also manages our social media, books our amazing talent & collaborates with everyone from our photographer to partner organisations to raise our profile & spread the word. He loves a chat… & a selfie.

Our team is also made up of an amazing pool of talented DJs, dancers & entertainers as well as our photographers, glitter & makeup artists & venue staff who bring SO MUCH energy, creativity & love to our events. We love shining a spotlight on them all and you can find them on our social media pages in the lead up to each event as well as in our galleries.
